Shortlisted: Elizabeth Cox’s Book, Mr Ward’s Map

Congratulations to Wellington-based historian, Elizabeth Cox, whose book, Mr Ward’s Map: Victorian Wellington Street by Street, published by Massey University Press in 2025, has now been shortlisted (one of four finalists) for the Ockham New Zealand book awards, in the Bookhub Award for Illustrated Non-Fiction.

Mr Ward’s Map explores the 88-sheet map of the city drawn in 1891 by surveyor Thomas Ward, showing the footprint of every building and telling the stories associated with many of them. For more, see here.

The winners will be announced at the Auckland Writers Festival on 13 May.
