Browsers
This CD should be compatible with all current browsers.  Netscape 4 users should however upgrade to a more standards compliant browser for a better viewing experience.

PDF - Adobe Acrobat Reader

All the papers on this CD have been made available in PDF (Portable Document Format).  You will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the papers on this CD.

Installation
Adobe Acrobat Reader (v5.0.5) is available on this CD in both Mac and PC format.  You will find the installer for your platform in the folder "xtras/acrobat".

Searching
This CD provides a number of ways of searching for a particular paper or finding text in any paper.

  • The navigation bar on the lefthand side has a search feature. This is a basic listing of the entire collection of papers by title or author.
  • Finding text within a PDF.  Any PDF that is open within the browser can be searched for particular words.  Use the 'find' icon on the acrobat reader toolbar.  This will only find text in the current PDF.
  • Global searching.  This method allows you to search for phrases, text, words across the entire collection of PDFs.  To do so you must open Acrobat Reader as a stand-alone application (not from within your browser).  Open your CD using your file manager and proceed to open 'Search.pdf'.  Once 'Search.pdf' is open in Acrobat Reader you can make use of the sophisticated search tools.  To find out more about the search tools open Acrobat Reader and access Help > Acrobat Help.  Using the sidebar in Acrobat navigate to the section on 'Searching'.

Printing
All PDF documents on this CD have been optimized for print format.  To print find and open the paper you wish to print--the papers are found on the CD in the folder "papers" and are categorized by theme.  If the PDF has opened within your browser you will want to use the 'print' icon on the PDF toolbar.  If the paper has opened in a separate application you can use either the 'print' icon on the toolbar or use the 'print' option from the 'file' menu.

Emailing
If you wish to email a paper to someone use your email program and attach the pdf you want to send from the CD.  All papers are found in folders based on the conference themes in the directory "papers" eg. "papers/memory".
